393. Rose Brown (P.Br.25 *** □▲)

The colour is based on the pigment Benzimidasolone Brown (P.Br.25), transparent, does not completely wash off from the paper, leaving a clearly visible paint mark. It has the highest light fastness, rich luxurious brown colour with a slight cool red tint.

This is a unique pure glaze colour with enormous colour power and a wide colour stretch: from a rich dark brown at the beginning to a light pink reflex at the end of the stretch. It is easy to pick up on a brush and spreads remarkably over the surface of the paper, actively moving in the water. Due to its transparency and purity of colour, it works well in mixtures with all paints, giving many pure complementary shades. This is a basic brown colour that when added to other colours produces complex, pure, noble shades of brown.

Rose Brown copes well with various tasks in painting: in the grisaille technique (thanks to its transparency and wide tone stretch), in landscape painting to reflect the brown shades of the earth, building facades or tree trunks (both in pure form and as part of mixtures), in portraiture of people or animals, to thicken the tone in mixtures or convey the colour and texture of fur or hair, or the tones of human skin.
