Purple Mist (P.G.50, P.V.19 *** ◨△ G)

The colour is developed based on a mixture of Cobalt Titanate Green (P.G.50) and Quinacridone Violet (P.V.19) pigments, is semi-transparent, easily washed off from paper, and has the highest lightfastness rating. It has a cool, deep burgundy-grey colour with a rich transparent pink undertone and a pronounced granulation effect due to Cobalt Titanate Green pigment particles. This is especially noticeable and expressive in wet painting. Large particles of Cobalt precipitate, leaving a grey-green trail, and the bright and rich pink colour of Quinacridone continues to move in the water, creating picturesque stains and extraordinary effects in painting.

In mixtures with other paints, it gives pure additional shades due to the fact that Cobalt particles, creating a grey-green undertone, quickly precipitate and do not mix with other paints, and the transparent active pink colour Quinacridone mixes well with almost all colours of the palette, giving pure shades. Mixtures with yellow produce complex shades of pink with a grey undertone; mixtures with cool shades of blue produce a complex shade of purple with a light grey-green undertone in the form of a granulating sediment.

Purple Mist is great for painting flowers, abstract fills and backgrounds. The colour works well in landscape painting or in urban sketches, filling backgrounds or foreground details.
