The paint has a soft granulation effect, a rich and deep velvety grey colour with a slight pink-plum tint.
The colour of the paint is restrained and noble; in mixtures with other colours it gives complex pure shades, muting their colour, creating depth of colour and imparting to the mixture the effect of light velvety granulation. This property allows Chrome Iron Brown to be used in landscape painting. In mixtures with browns and ochres to convey texture and earth tones in landscapes. In mixtures with blue or cold red or ocher to convey the colour and texture of boulevards, building facades and asphalt pavements in urban sketches.
